The work tries to remove the significance of everyday events reported in the news. To me, the news was often ‘bad news’, seemingly warning of an impending apocalypse. By sewing over these articles, donning the images with threads of colour, the work represents my attempts of repairing the world’s issues through every stitch. In the process of sewing each article, there is also a shift of focus from event to particular individuals- who become the main subject matter of the work. Reading the newspapers can be overwhelming at times and it is not the end of the world that I fear, but that someday, I may lose the people I love.
