Questal Tay (b.1988, Singapore) lives and works in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
I usually begin by working with the physical material(s) at hand. As I create each work from the material- breaking it down, building it up or combined with other elements- I consider the emotions elicited and thoughts provoked, both introspectively and when viewed from the audience’s perspective.
Often, my works embody the desire as well as the struggle, to connect or be reconciled with people.
The process of making art allows me to reflect on various situations in life and helps bring (some) order. I can work through the brokenness and call forth Beauty, wherein there is hope and love.
